An essential complement of
any CMM Package, TRU-POS™ Locators, developed and manufactured by LaVezzi
Precision, Inc. are the only correct way to determine the true position of tapped holes. ANSI specifies,
“Each tolerance of orientation or position and datum reference specified for a screw
thread applies to the axis of the thread derived from the pitch cylinder.”
Gage pins, screw heads
or tap shanks are misused because they do not reference the pitch diameter. This can
cause a misleading reading making an "in tolerance" hole seem "out-of-tolerance."
